Case study
Village Mobile Mechanic: a site built for older drivers.
Eric fixes cars, trucks and golf carts in his customers’ driveways in The Villages, Florida. We rebuilt his website-builder site into one that’s easy to read, quick on any phone, and puts a call, a text or a booking one tap away.

The brief
Big type, plain words, and one tap to Eric.
Eric works in and around The Villages, a retirement community. His site had to suit his neighbors: easy to read for older eyes, quick on any phone, with a call, a text or a booking one tap away on every page.
The old site, made with a website builder, takes about five seconds to show its main content on a phone. The trust Eric had earned lived in his Google reviews and in nine tips he had written, so both had to come along.
What we built
Every page planned around the people reading it.
- Made for older eyesLarge type in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for readers with low vision, text that passes the strictest contrast level, and a switch to make it bigger still.
- Call or text from every pageBig tap-to-call and tap-to-text buttons on every screen, and a printable card with Eric’s number for the fridge or glove box.
- Booking in a few tapsPick a day and a two-hour window, Monday to Saturday, and say what’s wrong.
- “What is it doing?”Pick what the car or golf cart is doing, read what it usually means in Eric’s own words, and send him a text that’s already written.
- Neighbors’ reviews, word for wordReal Google reviews, each tagged with the car and the job it mentions.
- Nine tips, still at their old linksEric’s articles on golf carts, warning lights and more, kept at the addresses people saved. Every page reads at about an eighth-grade level.
Before and after
Three times faster on a phone.
The home page on a phone, measured with Google’s own test on November 1, 2026: Eric’s current site and the new build, the middle of three runs each.
Speed, access and security
Top marks on Google’s own tests.
Speed, accessibility, good practice and search readiness, checked on phones and computers across the site’s pages.
- Text that passes the strictest contrast level on every page
- Old website-builder addresses already lead to the new pages
- A strict security policy: the site only loads its own files
